Discover love in action

What will you build?

We would like to invite you, your friends & family,

and your colleagues to volunteer with us for a day, a week, or more . . .

It's a rewarding experience!

Construction Site

Every Habitat for Humanity home is built by volunteers. This is the backbone

of our workforce. We utilize the help of many agencies and groups. We work

with businesses, corporate employees, youth groups in high school and

college,as well as vocational or technical schools. We welcome anyone over

the age of 16 who wants to lend a helping hand. No skills required! There are

trained professionals on every construction site to teach volunteers the skills

they will need to know for each phase of the project.

Our construction site is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00am- 3:00pm. We

do have to discourage job-site walk-ons for insurance purposes. If you are

interested in scheduling a volunteer date on the job site, please contact Kate

Callahan at 207-772-2151 or by email at volunteer@habitatme.org.

ReStore Volunteer Opportunities

For more information about the ReStore program, please visit the ReStore page

on our website. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is always welcoming new

volunteers. Volunteer assistance in the ReStore might include helping with

delivery and pickup of building materials, small deconstruction projects, cleaning

and moving donations, assisting customers and much more! If you are interested

in volunteering in the ReStore, please contact Alexa at 207-221-0047 or

by email at alexa @habitatme.org.

Are you looking for unique and meaningful ways to engage a group

of volunteers in the work that Habitat for Humanity is doing locally?

Here are a few suggestions!

  • Coordinate a tool drive at your church, school, or work place.  HfHGP is building more than ever which creates a greater demand for safe tools on our job sites. We can provide a wish list of tools and any additional support that you need!
  • Help us promote our events by hanging posters in your community.
  • Provide lunch to a group of construction or ReStore volunteers
  • Host a pancake breakfast, bake sale or spaghetti dinner to benefit HfHGP
  • Host a furniture drive for the HfHGP ReStore.
  • Contact a local retail store about a holiday gift-wrapping fund raiser (ex:  Borders Books and Music)
  • If you are interested in volunteering but are not necessary looking to work on the jobsite or in the ReStore, we often have opportunities available in our office, at upcoming special events, or with planning fund raisers.

To see a complete listing of volunteer opportunities, please visit www.volunteermaine.org and type in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland. We keep all on-going and one-time volunteer opportunities listed!

Thank you to every volunteer who has helped to make Habitat for Humanity’s

vision a reality. We could not continue to build simple, decent, and affordable

homes for families, without YOU.

Court-Mandated Volunteers

Individuals who are required to perform court mandated community service must first contact Kate Callahan by email or by phone at (207) 772-2151 to discuss HFHGP’s volunteer policies.

If approved, hours must be tracked by the volunteer and verified by HFHGP staff in order to receive a letter confirming completion of hours.

PLEASE NOTE: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is not currently scheduling individuals to complete court mandated volunteers hours.
